DC-3 11" Hand Cast Aluminum Airplane Model

Our 11" Douglas DC-3 desktop airplane model is a nostalgic and perfect replica of an early travel agent display.  It is hand cast from recycled aircraft aluminum and hand polished to a brilliant silver sheen.  It is sure to attract attention and facilitate many conversations about early passenger air travel.

The DC-3 was produced in the mid 1930's as a response to TWA's request for a competetor to the Boing 247.  It's first flight was in December, 1935.  The initial rollout was for a plane with sleeping accomodations.  This was soon upgraded to have seating instead of the sleeping berths.  Civilian production was halted at the start of WWII.  A total of over 16,000 civilian and military aircraft were produced.  As of 2013 approximately 2,000 were still flying.
